Tutorial: Delivering to Inter网 and Intra网 Viewers with the DVEO Magnus Anytime Family of Products

Sometimes you want to stream to internal viewers on your intra网; and sometimes to outside viewers on the Inter网. And sometimes you want to stream to both.

If you produce for both intra网 and inter网 viewing, you should know about the DVEO Magnus Anytime family of products, which combines the DVEO Magnus encoder and RealNetworks’ Helix server to enable multiple screen delivery both inside and outside your firewall.

All Magnus Anytime units incorporate dual, 8-core Xeon processors with 32GB of RAM, and run Linux. The base price is $20,595, to which you have to add the cost of your input cards. I tested a unit with 4 HD-SDI inputs (下面的图1).

The DVEO Magnus Anytime User Interface

Let’s take a quick run through of the user interface so you can get a feel for the features and capabilities of this unit. You drive the encoder’s server from a browser on a computer with 网work access to the unit (图2, below).

The tabs on top break the system’s operation into key functional areas. System Status monitors the system, the available inputs, and 网work and license information (下面的图3).

Helix Setup is for the internal distribution server (图5, below).

Apps Setup is for the applications shown in the left-hand nav bar shown in 图6 (below), while System Setup controls the operations that appear in the same area in 图2.
